The Unearthed Academy, along with our partners, the Kenchaan Foundation and Wilderness Leadership School continued our hunt for participants from communities around the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve to join our January 2023 training Social Entrepreneurship Training Course intake. This round of discussion was hosted at the Centenary Centre inside iMfolozi Game Reserve focusing on the theme of Conservation and Zulu Heritage (being Heritage Month in South Africa)
There was great excitement as the workshop attendees were spoiled with epic sightings of lions up in a giant Marula tree on the drive through the park. What a treat it was to have a conservation conversation in the heart of one of Africa's oldest protected areas. The workshop was filled with exciting business ideas around cultural tourism.
"Much like when you follow a honeyguide, you need to leave some honey behind for the birds, if you're greedy, bad things will happen" - A rather appropriate metaphor for the world we live in.
Our next workshop is scheduled for the 18th of October, once again at the Centenery Centre in the iMfolozi Game Reserve at 10h00"
If you have a great business idea or would simply like to engage with us around conservation issues facing the park, learn more and share ideas, we would love to see you there.
